Gillespie Forum, is the first regional contest to present student film and video projects that address public issues.The 2nd annual Eli Jaffe Film Competition will be Sunday, May 13th at 1:00pm at Upstate Films in Rhinebeck, NY. The deadline for submissions is May 1st. There is no submission fee. Students must be currently enrolled at one of the five regional colleges: Bard, Dutchess Community College, Marist, Mount Saint Mary College and Vassar. Both narrative and documentary projects may be submitted, but only one project per filmmaker will be considered. Regional Student Film Competition to Screen Winning Entries at Upstate Films

The film competition was open to documentary and narrative films on topics in the public interest made by students at Bard College, Dutchess Community College, Marist College, Mount Saint May College, and Vassar College.
The competition is named in honor of local peace activist Eli Jaffe, who died in 2001. “It seemed fitting to us at the Gillespie Forum that an event we hoped would stimulate thinking and discussion should be named for a person who devoted his life to activism and service,” said Gillespie Forum President Steve Sansola. The Forum is a local non-profit that regularly sponsors lectures, panels, forums, and films on topics of current public interest, often in collaboration with area colleges and other community organizations. The top student filmmakers in the second annual Eli Jaffe Film Competition, sponsored by the local Gillespie Forum, will have their work featured at this screening.
